Makeovers are a popular activity for women to perform on themselves or other women that they are friendly with or related. Hair salons and beauty parlors all over the country offer makeovers to their customers, some of which cost a pretty penny to have completed. Makeovers are used to change the entire look or appearance of a person from their hairstyle to their makeup to the clothes that they wear. Many girls and women will have parties solely to provide makeovers for each other at the party. Sometimes, make up sales parties will turn into makeover parties because of everyone trying out different make ups and whatnot.
There are a handful of television shows that deal with makeovers and giving guests makeovers, specifically Extreme Makeover, What Not to Wear, How do I Look, The Swan and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. Other shows that provide makeovers for their guests include local morning news shows and other talk shows on news networks. Many news programs will have special segments on their show with local makeover experts who will perform makeovers on guests of the show. A makeover can cost a pretty penny but it can be free if the person needing the makeover wins a spot on a makeover show or is a special guest on another program that offers makeovers during special segments.
So what does it take to perform a makeover? The first aspect of performing a makeover includes making sure that the person you want to makeover agrees with the makeover in the first place. The next step is to determine how you are going to makeover your friend or relative. What do you want to do with their current look? Do you want to completely change it or just tweak it here and there? Depending on what your answer is, you will need to purchase items accordingly. The first thing that needs to be purchased is hair equipment. Then you should bring in some new makeup and then the final part is new clothing.
When making over a person everything should be done in one sitting and the process should begin with the hair. Change the hairstyle by adding some highlights or other color to the hair and figure out a way to wear the hair differently. This includes moving the hair from the shoulder to a ponytail and vice versa. Once the hair is made over the process should then move onto the makeup. Put new makeup on, maybe makeup that you would never wear at all, and wear different colors and shades. Once makeup has been changed and put on the person’s face you should bring in the new outfit for the person to wear. The new clothes should be 100 percent different from what has been worn in the past. So, if the makeover recipient is used to wearing jeans and a t-shirt they should not be wearing a skirt and a blouse. As mentioned earlier, make sure you get the approval of your friend or relative prior to performing a complete makeover. |
