The Benefits of Buying a Treadmill |
In today’s society, the topics of weight loss and fitness are talked about more than ever before. Of course, this is mostly due to the fact that there are now more fast foods, fatty foods, chemicals and preservatives eaten than at any other time in history. Since it doesn’t appear that we are going to completely give up eating food that is bad for us, we are going to need to keep exercising so that our waistlines don’t keep expanding! There are many different forms of exercising, and people can get a bit overwhelmed when it comes to choosing how to get in shape. The treadmill is the most popular method of exercise today, and there are many reason why.
Walking has always been the best way to get in shape; it is a low impact, cardio workout that is very safe, and most of the population can do it. It is also free for anyone to do. However, due to the limitation that weather can put on us, we can’t always go out for a walk, and most of us don’t have houses big enough to walk indoors! You can always pay for a gym membership and go walking on the gym’s track, but then walking is no longer free. The best solution to this problem is to buy a treadmill.
Treadmills aren’t free, but they have gone down a lot in price over the last few years, and if you buy a good one, it will last you a long time. Before you rush out to purchase one though, make sure you know what you want. There are hundreds of models out there, and you don’t want to come home with something, only to discover that another store had something better.
There are 2 basic kinds of treadmills: Manual and Electric. Manual treadmills are always cheaper, but they don’t tell you things like how many calories you are burning, or what your heart rate is. Some people like these better because you have to work harder. (The belt is moved by your feet, instead of electronically.) Electric treadmills plug into the wall, and there is a lot more room for features with these! Most people prefer these types of treadmills because they can keep track of everything. Plus, they come with so many great add-ons that make exercise a lot more fun.
The basic features that come with most electric treadmills are: calories burned, heart rate and miles walked. These are the cheapest electric models, but consider that you will probably be spending time every day on this machine, and you want to get your money’s worth! Think about what you want out of a treadmill. Do you want to train for a marathon, or do you simply want to get in better shape? Either way, I would recommend choosing a treadmill that inclines, so you can get a better workout. There are some that come with different workout programs, fans, mp3 plug-ins, and much, much more. Narrow down your choices by writing down what you want out of a treadmill, and choosing the right one will be simple. |
